My name is Malebogo Gloria Moja. I am a Project Metallurgist and a researcher at Veng Group; it is an EPCM company that offers solutions to various mines and the governmental sector. I have a Masters in Metallurgical Engineering.

The 3 key values which drive me are:

1. Personal development — to grow, one needs to learn from their mistakes, from those around them and the experts. I am willing learn and giving myself a chance to go through the journey and take up courses and webinars to improve my skill set and with the help of my mentors too.

2. Persistence — I have to be persistent and keep going even if things get tough. I am willing to take it one step at a time until I reach my goal of becoming one of the executives in the mining industry and getting my PhD in metallurgy and MBA in the next ten years; giving up is not an option. I will crawl if I have to, but I am not stopping.

3. Healthy lifestyle (physical & mental) — Taking care of my health is vital. When you look good, you feel good, and you do good. I am exercising at least five days a week, and I am trying to be consistent with that and eat healthier. Moreover, my mental health is crucial, and I value it. Things may become challenging and frustrating, but it is essential to reflect and check how I can handle situations differently and ensure that my emotions don’t get the best of me, and consistently achieve inner peace.

I am willing to take it one step at a time until I reach my goal of becoming one of the executives in the mining industry and getting my PhD in metallurgy and MBA in the next ten years; giving up is not an option.

From this programme, I hope that I can learn how to take leadership in my career and how to manage it effectively and be able to pay it forward to those who will follow us.

What #showupandshine means to me is:

· To consistently work hard and smart to become a better leader to my subordinates, the one who inspires the subordinates to reach the optimum performance and the one they can look up to.

· To grow in my career and not be afraid to take charge and not be too hard on myself.

· To take care of my mental and physical health, to achieve ZEN and inner peace.

· To get my PhD in metallurgy and MBA and become the CEO of my own company.

In 2021 and through this programme, I am on a journey to becoming a better leader to my subordinates, grow in my career and not be afraid to take charge.
